A New House For A PWD And His Family

for_website_Odette_Housing_PWD__Fam_Bohol.png

Allan Golosino, a 53-year old PWD, was set to move into a new house along with his parents and two children. The house was constructed by the St Vincent Ferrer Parish Team HALAD or Handumanan sa Ligdong mga Alagad sa Dios from TYF’s Super Typhoon Odette rehab funds, in partnership with the Diocese of Talibon Social Action Center (DSAC) in Bohol.

A day before the house was completed, Allan’s mother, 78 year old Nanay Catalina suddenly died from a heart attack. The family couldn’t afford to buy a coffin, so the construction team built one for her.

During the house blessing, Allan and his father look stunned. In all likelihood, their hearts were both full and empty at the same time.

Our thanks to the parish HALAD Providers team who brought grocery items, kitchen utensils, curtains and tablecloth, a Bible, and a crucifix. Daghang salamat to DSAC Director Fr Epifanio Gupita who blessed Nanay Catalina and the new house.

New Rice Hub in Bagong Silang, Caloocan

TYF welcomes the opening of the latest alternative rice hub or bigasan in the Ina ng Laging Saklolo Parish in Bagong Silang, Caloocan. The bigasan is jointly managed by the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council, and Family and Life Couple Power Lakas Mag-asawa. For the launch on Sunday, March 26, meron ding libreng lugaw!

Since 2001, TYF and The Hunger Project of the Philippine Business for Social Progress have been collaborating to provide interest-free loans to establish a parish-based bigasan in the various dioceses in Metro Manila. The project has two-fold objectives:
To support farmers associations or co-operatives by buying directly from them
To provide good quality rice at a more affordable price for urban poor communities

TYF and PBSP are supporting five other bigasan in Caloocan, Cubao, Manila, Fairview, and in U.P. Diliman.

Another Farmer Family in Ubay, Bohol Received A New House

Dreams do come true.

The house where Allan and Sonia Antipas lived with their five children and one grandchild was too cramped, but Allan’s income from farming barely sufficed for their needs.

In April 2023, the St Vincent Ferrer Parish’s Team HALAD which constructs houses for Balay sa Kabus built a new house for the family in Purok 4, Brgy Lomangog, Ubay, Bohol. The house is one of 37 funded by TYF’s Super Typhoon Odette rehab project in partnership with the Diocese of Talibon Social Action Center. DSAC Director and the St Vincent Ferrer Parish priest Fr Epifanio Gupita personally blessed and handed over the house to the Antipas family.

Last March 26, the family of Allan del Mar moved into their new house in Kintayan 2, Catungawan Sur, Guindulman, Bohol.

Allan's family is one of 37 recipients of houses from Tanging Yaman Foundation's Super Typhoon Odette rehab funds coursed through the Diocese of Talibon Social Action Center (DSAC).

We thank the Talibon DSAC and Fr John Ricarte Cristal, parish priest of Santa Cruz Parish in Guindulman, who blessed Allan's house and whose parish team of workers and volunteers labored for its construction.

Housing Project Blessed and Turned Over To A Farmer Family

Our Super Typhoon Odette rehab partners often send us before-and-after pictures of the shelter projects, and the results are always striking.

Here, for example, the family of Roberta Pogoy, a farmer with eight children, receives their house after it was blessed by Rev Fr Jude Marvin Gumapac of the St Isidore the Farmer Parish in Camambugan, Ubay, Bohol.

To our dear donors, we want you to know what a huge difference your contributions have made on the lives of many Filipinos. You gave them not just a new house but also renewed hope in God's grace.

We also thank the St Isidore the Farmer Parish and the Diocese of Talibon in Bohol for coordinating the construction of houses for rural families after the typhoon.
