Php 59M Odette Rehab Projects

Since March 2022, TYF has been responding to requests for Odette rehab projects for schools, churches, chapels, seminary and convents, shelter, and livelihoods. Most schools and parish churches have been completed, and TYF is just awaiting their terminal reports. Still ongoing are shelter projects (TYF is supporting the construction of 79 new houses and provision of housing materials for hundreds more) and livelihood projects (seaweeds farming in Northern Palawan, 111 fishing boats in several other provinces).

Thanks to all our donors and mission partners. AM+DG

293 College Scholars for SY 22-23

Since its inception, TYF has always put education and formation as its core program. The past year has seen a dramatic increase in the number of TYF college scholars in all regions nationwide. We are grateful to our donors -- including three new sponsors this school year -- whose generosity help ease the burdens of our scholars' families and fuel their dreams of a brighter future.

The objective of shelter rehab projects is not just to restore normalcy but to provide safer and more dignified housing. The family of Richard Bonjan of Sitio Cansagang, Brgy Danicop has just moved into their new house after the blessing by Fr. Ulysses Dispo, parish priest of St. Isidore Abachanan, Sierra Bullones, Bohol.

TYF is funding the construction of 30 shelter units in the Diocese of Talibon, Bohol, one of more than 40 Odette rehab projects all over the Visayas and Mindanao. We thank the Talibon Social Action Center for managing the shelter project in the diocese. AM+DG

Odette Rehabilitation Project in Ubay, Bohol

When Supertyphoon Odette made landfall in Ubay in December 2021, one of the casualties was the 66 year old wooden building of the Holy Child Academy of Ubay, Bohol. The roof and walls were blown off, leaving only the pillars of the second floor intact.

Holy Child Academy, which serves more than 1,000 high school students, started constructing a new building in June 2022. TYF’s P1-M donation helped complete the building’s P9.5-M budget.

Through the pictures sent by school director Fr Jojo Gudes every week, TYF is able to track their progress– the foundation laid out, then the trusses went up, walls next, workers in a constant whirl of activity.

Fr Jojo has just confirmed that construction will be finished at the end of February 2023.

On Ash Wednesday, February 22, Fr Rimar J Mabanag, parish priest of Sto. Niño Parish in Getafe, Bohol and the Diocesan Social Action Center (DSAC) team of the Diocese of Talibon formally turned over 8 fishing boats to 8 families in Getafe affected by Super Typhoon Odette. Similar fishing boats have earlier been distributed by DSAC in Mabini, Aguining, Inabanga, and Buenavista. TYF funded the construction of 60 fishing boats for the diocese.
